1. Emergency Operation Procedures During Power Failure

In the event of a sudden power failure, the crane operator should remain calm and immediately press the emergency stop button to cut off the power supply, preventing accidental activation. If the crane is equipped with a backup power source (such as a UPS or diesel generator), it should be activated promptly to slowly lower the hook or load to a safe area. If no backup power is available, the operator must manually release the brake or use a hand-crank mechanism (if available) to control the descent of the load, avoiding free-fall accidents. Meanwhile, all personnel on-site should evacuate immediately, and a restricted zone should be established to prevent unauthorized access to the hazardous area.

2. Post-Incident Inspection and Preventive Measures

After handling the power failure incident, a thorough investigation must be conducted to identify the cause of the failure, and any issues with the power system or equipment should be repaired. A comprehensive inspection of the crane’s structure, wire ropes, braking system, and other critical components should be performed to ensure no damage or hidden risks exist. In daily management, regular testing of emergency power supplies and manual release devices is essential to ensure their reliability. Additionally, emergency drills for operators should be enhanced to familiarize them with power failure response procedures, improving their ability to react quickly and minimizing potential accident risks.
